I am a silly Canadian (at least that is my excuse). I thought last weekend was “Black Friday.” And now I have realized that no, it’s actually tomorrow. So I’m going to put my Etsy shop on sale again – actually this time, both shops 🙂

Christmas time is coming 🙂 And it’s Black Friday this week. Not that we really do that in Canada but, well, we sort of do. I’m having a big sale in my main Etsy store to clear out some stock and make a few extra bucks for Christmas shopping. This will only apply to ready to ship items and not custom orders, and only my shop at http://lampworkbyamy.etsy.com/ These are some crazy good prices though and I have a lot in stock, so please pop on over starting at midnight tonight (12am Friday morning) and will go until Sunday at 11pm (both PST). I’m using Etsy on Sale so the prices will be automatically adjusted when the sale starts – you won’t need a promo code or anything. Hope you enjoy and Happy Holidays!
I’ve been doing a lot of made to order work lately and the result is… orphan city! I usually make at least a few extra beads for every set that I sell made to order – I select the best/most matching ones and that’s what gets shipped out. But then I have so many leftovers, which is great because I know there are lots of you out there who aren’t as picky about exact matching shapes/sizes and colours, and who love an awesome deal. This is really unbelievable value.
This is one of my biggest and best orphan lots to date I think. Loads of matching beads here, tons of spacers, and great variety. Mostly 1/16″ hole size. Come grab them before they’re gone 🙂
It’s September again, and all over the place there are kids going back to school (well, not here in BC, but that’s another story). University and college students are starting new courses, moms (well, some of them) are finding a bit more time on their hands. Back to school time is one of my favorite times of year. I love it when seasons change – and my two favorites are Summer turning into Fall, and Winter into Spring. Well right now we are on the tail end of a beautiful Summer, with just a hint of Fall. There’s that little bit of crispness in the air, it’s not quite so stiflingly hot, and we’ve had some rain. I’m not quite into Boot time but starting to think about wearing leggings again. Boots and leggings and sweaters are some of my favorite things… but that’s a bit of a digression from glass…
Anyhow, I think what I like about Fall is the feeling of new beginnings and new possibilities.
I have a new Etsy shop that I’m promoting. It is a Made to Order catalogue of all of my designs (or at least, the ones I am able and willing to reproduce). I still have loads to add to this store from my current “catalogue” and am always adding new designs as well, but it’s starting to become fairly fleshed out already, so please go visit! For 10% off at checkout, use coupon code TGL10PERCENT.
I want to share today some preliminary results another of Val Cox Frit’s new blends – this one is called Pink Incantation. “A richly layered blend of pinks, peaches, willow-green and cranberry. Fuss free. Lovely with silver.” I loved the kind of old fashioned feeling of this blend. It is sort of girly and a bit dainty. Very pretty.

Well, I have been pretty terrible about updating this blog in a while. Sorry about that! I haven’t gone anywhere. Actually I have been working on adding loads of new items to my Etsy store, and will be continuing to do so over the next while, so keep checking back there for new goodies.
I’ve also been working towards having more spacers in stock and ready to ship in my Etsy store. You can always order spacers and other sets in larger quantities in my Handmade Artists shop, which is entirely made to order (meaning that I will special-make the beads just for you), but I know not everyone likes to wait for creation time. (You can also always contact me through Etsy for a custom order if you prefer Etsy – I usually have the glass in stock to make extras but it’s not always guaranteed, and some things are one of a kind. But you can always ask!) At any rate, it’s a bit of a slow process increasing stock on spacers, but you will notice that some of the listings now have multiples in stock.
Another piece of news I want to share is that I have decided to stop selling on Artfire. Or rather, attempting to sell on Artfire. I have just not been getting enough sales there to justify the monthly fee. I gave it a chance for a good six month period, and it hasn’t been working, so I am not going to keep going with it, at least for now. It’s too bad because I really do like Artfire, but I guess they just aren’t getting the traffic, or it’s the wrong people for my work, or something. I do much better on Etsy and eBay.
(For that matter, I haven’t been having stellar results with Handmade Artists either – but I am keeping on with them because their monthly fee is so low, and I really do want to continue to offer certain sets and spacers there as a sort of catalogue. I am hoping that this site will stay around long enough that people become more comfortable ordering there. They have such a nice philosophy of artists helping other artists, I just don’t think enough people are aware they exist yet.)
So, what else is new this week? I do have some sets starting at discounted prices on eBay. And I’m offering FREE SHIPPING worldwide on these listings! So they are like a double discount in a way.
And that’s about all the news I’ve got for now! I hope you all had wonderful holidays and are having a great start to 2013.
