Frit Beads

Today I have some new Etsy listings to share – frit beads! These were all made with frit blends by Val Cox. Very simple and easy beads to make, but they are quite effective and pretty.

Catalina Blue on Opal Yellow

African Violet on Light Turquoise

Fuchsia Pink on Copper Green

Green is the new black

I have a t-shirt that says this, it came from Old Navy. Anyway, I realized yesterday that I don’t use my greens enough, and I don’t really know why, because I love the colour green and all the things it represents too.

I used a base of moretti dark teal transparent, and layered on top [...]

Some classic lampwork, and some gorgeous reds

I did some beads with Vetrofond Candy Apple Red odd lot today.

Here are some rounds with the candy apple red encasing a white base bead. Etsy link.

A “Classic” lampwork set. I haven’t done one of these in a while. Again it’s the candy apple red encasing white, with some orange and [...]

Fernwood Art Stroll… and the day’s work

We set up in my back yard and I spent the day at the torch doing demos and stuff. Mostly I just worked away as normal and let people watch. It was pretty low key, I enjoyed it. We are doing the same tomorrow.

[...]

Four lovely ladies (sorry, they’re all spoken for)

Unnamed set… ideas?

First, here is a test bead I made with the copper green odd lot, 219C (rusty candy) – reduced a lot

The unnamed set. Help! I love these colours and I need a good name.

I got my hollow mandrils yesterday!

It was pretty fun blowing glass for the first time. I actually felt fairly intuitive about how to do it… and although I had a few blowouts from blowing too hard, overall I’m really happy with these as first results, and can’t wait to do more and more! There’s something soo cool about how glass [...]

Olympia Rain Experiments

I was trying DH Olympia rain out on some of my other reactive glasses, because I still have one rod of it left. It looks really pretty on dark ivory, and quite nice on copper green as well. I did a set on dark ivory, and I plan to do a set on copper green [...]

More buttons and a goddess

Copper green with dark ivory and black dots, encased with crystal green (basically a clear but with a slight green tinge).

Layers of light purple, white, and dark purple.

Same colours as above.

So, I have been getting my button holes a bit better. Still working on the overall shape, but I [...]

Working on craft fair stock

More buttons. The shape is getting a bit better, but the holes are still a bit too rough. The orangey colour is vetrofond odd lot orange punch… the dark colour is CiM simply berry but it isn’t showing up especially well. I think it’s quite a dark transparent purple and might look better overtop [...]
